SAFA President Calls for Gun Surrender Following Senzo Meyiwa’s Murder

5th Nov 2014 In South Africa, following the recent tragic shooting of the talented and promising captain of their national team, Senzo Meyiwa, by suspected robbers in Johannesburg and his burial last Saturday, South Africa’s football association, SAFA, have started a campaign encouraging people in the country to surrender their guns, which will be melted into a statue of the slain soccer star to immortalize him.

The call was made by the president of the association, Danny Jordaan, urging people to give up their guns and support the worthy cause which will mean less threat and gun violence in the society. Senzo Meyiwa’s unexpected passing has once again highlighted the need for gun control in South Africa and also the high rates of violent crimes.
