30th Jan 2014 – And from Ventures Africa, Samsung Electronics Nigeria Limited has launched an engineering academy in Abuja, Nigeria to provide aspiring teenage engineers with training on refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
The academy is the second in the country after a similar one was launched in Lagos last year. Samsung plans to roll out further centres across the country as it seeks to cover the large pool of engineering students and has confirmed Ekiti, in western Nigeria, as its next site.
Kabir Usman, Abuja’s Education Secretary remarked on the engineering academy, especially in light of the recent introduction of about 24 trade subjects into secondary schools and is quoted as saying “This is a big boost for the education sector in Nigeria. We will be doing all our practicals here”.
