Sand Eagles win bronze at CAF Beach Championship.
23rd April 2015 The last two games where the Sand Eagles of Nigeria met their Ivory Coast counterparts, ended in losses for Nigeria but it does look like the jinx has been broken with their most recent clash at the just concluded CAF Beach Soccer Championship in Seychelles.
Nigeria picked up the bronze prize for their effort, beating Ivory Coast with a very hard to miss 9 goals to the Ivorian 1.
A goal each from Bartholomew Ibenegbu and Lokosa Sewanu; a brace each from captain, Olawale Isiaka, Emeka Ogbonna, and a hat-trick by Abu Azeez gave the team their emphatic victory.
Azeez scored the first and the third goals in the first period, and in the second period, Olawale made it four. Ibenegbu scored the fifth goal a few minutes later before the Ivorians got their lone goal to make it 5-1. Ibenegbu also got the sixth goal before the end of the second period.
More goals followed through Sewanu, Ogbonna and Azeez.
