Scott Dixon says winning the 2015 Indycar series felt "Very, Very Sweet."

Sep 8, 2015 While commenting on his recent victory on the tracks, Scott Dixon said that winning the 2015 IndyCar Series championship was unexpected but felt “very, very sweet.”

“This one was I think probably the most unexpected one so to finish the season the way that we did…To get the championship we had to win the race and to pass eight cars was going to be very, very difficult so I think it was the sheer shock of being able to pull off and everything going in the direction of what we needed to as a team, this one felt very, very sweet.” He said

Dixon, who came from behind to beat Juan Pablo Montoya in an 85-lap season finale at Sonoma Raceway, said he did everything he needed to do.

“I think that the first sense of knowing that we had a shot was once we got to the last pit stop and we knew we had full fuel, new tires to go to the end and all barred some accident or something crazy happening and me not falling off the track, so, I think that was pretty much how the race went and we’re able to stretch out almost a six second lead towards the end,”

With 38 career wins, Dixon’s victory was his fourth championship win which ties him with Mario Andretti, Sebastien Bourdais and Franchitti.

“I think for us the goals are the same every year and that’s to try and win the Indianapolis 500 and secondly win the championship. This year we did one of those things, next year we’ll try and achieve both.”
