05 Feb 2014 – Libya has been crowned 2014 Orange African Nations Champions after an exciting and challenging game with Ghana at Cape Town Stadium. Score line at the end of the game was 4-3 on penalties after the match had ended 0-0.
This was a highly coincidental reversal of fortunes as Libya lost 7-6 on penalties to Ghana 32 years ago in the AFCON final.
The CHAN finals saw a crowd of just under 17 000 with special guests including CAF President IssaHayatou and his invited guest FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
The Nigeria –Zimbabwe match also saw Nigeria emerge 3rd place with a 1 – 0 victory over Zimbabwe.
Attacking winger EjikeUzoenyi has emerged as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP). He also picked up three Man of the Match awards at the tournament.
Nigeria also receieved the Fair Play Award, while South Africa’s Bernard Parker won the Golden Shoe, after banging in four goals.
