31st March 2015 Stephen Keshi appears to be the proverbial cat with nine lives, especially in his relationships with the bosses of Nigerian Football, which have attained the status of a telenovela in 2014. After long discussions on his contract, he has finally been confirmed for another 2 years as Coach for the Nigerian Super Eagles. This development has been confirmed by Nigeria’s Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick.
Amaju Pinnick is quoted as saying “The NFF executive committee met on Wednesday and finally approved the recommendation of the technical committee for Keshi to continue as the country’s coach. We believe he deserves to continue and we expect him to sign this new contract in the coming days.”
There have been heated arguments about Keshi remaining as coach of the country’s national teams from many quarters but Pinnick made sense when he added that “We all need help to excel in what we do and Keshi will get all the support he needs to succeed with the team,”.
According to inside sources, Keshi has however been asked to sign a code of conduct and tasked to meet several targets, with the conditions that all deals are off if he does not meet up.
All the best to all parties involved.
