Ugandan University plans world class growth

20th Jan 2015 And in Uganda, Kyambogo University’s administration will use the sum of 2.55 billion Ugandan Shillings to build a central teaching facility which will seat 6,000 persons at a time. The project estimated to cost sixteen point five billion at its completion will house computer labs, lecture theatres, and offices.

The announcement was made on the 11th graduation ceremony of the institution by the acting Vice Chancellor Professor Eli Katunguka , when the school graduated a total of 2,241 students from the faculties of Vocational Studies and Arts and Social Sciences.
Mr. Katunguka also said that the university will build a new library and labs with the funds received from government.

The university’s council chairman Prof John Okedi also added that policies for quality assurance, information communication telecommunications, research and innovation, records and information management and human resources have been looked into, and the students will enjoy a more improved operational experience.

The school’s VC says that the university’s world class computer laboratory with 135 work stations “will enable students to get hands-on skills, facilitate teaching and students’ learning.

Chancellor Prof John Ssebuwufu also took a dig at complaints regarding operational glitches in the university, saying that to elevate the university to continental premiership, staff and students should develop a culture of giving rather than always demanding.
