17th March 2015 And because of their belief that the youths are the leaders of today and tomorrow, some youth leaders from the greater northern region of Uganda have urged the President, Yoweri Museveni to include more youths into his Cabinet. This comes on the heels of the appointment of two young people, Evelyn Anite, as state minister for Youth Affairs and also Ronald Kibuule state minister for Water.
Samuel Odongo, youth leader from Ngora district who was in the company of some others from several other districts said in his address that “We the young people from greater North express gratitude to his Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting and appointing young people into sensitive positions that will enable them influence decisions that can steer this country in the right direction. We want to assure President Museveni that we shall support and cooperate with the youth leaders he has appointed. We are now feeling that we are part and parcel of this country. Your trust in young people is also evidenced by your elevation of the young into other sensitive positions in the country for example Justine Kasule Lumumba, NRM secretary general; Richard Todwong, deputy secretary general; Rose Namayanja, treasurer and Kenneth Omona, deputy treasurer,”
More youths have been encouraged to be focused in life and in their career paths, with calls for more youth positive participation in active politics and public service of the country.
