Uhuru Kenyatta and John Kerry hold discussions

May 12 , 2015 And more on international communication, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry held talks in Nairobi, as part of John Kerry’s three-day official tour.

The Secretary of State was in Kenya to offer help in countering Somali militants who have caused many senseless killings in some parts of the country in recent times, most recently, the killing of 148 people in an attack on the university at Garissa, in northern Kenya, on the second of April this year.

Kerry also addressed Kenya’s human rights in meetings with Kenyatta and other government officials and according to a US official, the group deliberated the troubled peace process in South Sudan and violence in Burundi.

His visit is on the heels of a call by Kenyan Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed who said last month that Nairobi wanted intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support from Western allies.

Kerry will also set out plans for President Barack Obama’s first visit to Kenya.
