UNICEF Celebrates hand Washing Day in Lagos Nigeria.

22nd Oct 2014 United Nations international children’s emergency fund UNICEF has said that the fight against the deadly Ebola virus further highlights the importance and practice of hand washing in the prevention of diseases. The organization which marked hand washing day globally and locally in Lagos, Nigeria, gave public demonstrations , talks from experts and had question and answer sessions by participants. According to UNICEF’S head of global water, sanitation and hygiene programmes, Sanjay Wijesekera, “Hand washing with soap is one of the cheapest, most effective ‘vaccines’ against viral diseases, from the seasonal flu, to the common cold,” He added that the organization, UNICEF has been leading in raising awareness about Ebola in the affected countries and working to change unfortunate misconceptions about the disease which put even more people at risk. We say get washing, people, and keep washing.
