Wada head backs current anti-doping procedures

Aug 18, 2015 The President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Craig Reedie has moved to defend the anti-doping procedures in athletics saying that recent media claims do not stand up scientifically or legally.

“I don’t think it means that people are doping at all. The first set of blood analysis that has been made public are independent samples and you cannot base a doping charge on one independent blood sample. That won’t stand up scientifically and it won’t stand up in law,” said Reedie.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) recently said that 32 adverse doping cases involving 28 athletes had come to light after the re-analysis of samples from nearly a decade ago. But President Craig went on to affirm that athletes who cheat are caught.

“There is still a testing process across athletics, it still works…People who have been cheating are caught,”
