Western Cape to invest 2 billion Rand in e learning

10th March 2015 As part of efforts to boost internet connectivity, the Western Cape government in South Africa has approved about one point two billion Rands to help those living in the area get internet access for next to nothing. The e-learning programme will also hook up one thousand two hundred and fifty schools to high-speed broadband and Wi-Fi.

The initiative is also as a result of statements from government that funds will be spent heavily on e-learning, with schools benefiting from the roll-out of tablets and similar devices.  According to Ivan Meyer, head of the finance in the country, thirty million Rands would be set aside “to cut red tape” which is also responsible for the crash of many private enterprises.
