WNBA Star Sisters; Chiney and Nneka Aims to Raise Funds to Support Female Education in Nigeria
17th June 2014 Sisters Chiney and Nneka Ogwumike are growing stars. The sisters are graduates from Stanford University and play for the WNBA. They are actually the second set of siblings drafted No. 1 in a major sports league.
The sisters have now decided to use their growing fame to give something back. They aim to raise funds to support UNICEF programs that focus on developing female education in the Nigeria.
The eventual goal of the program is to give one million girls in Nigeria access to quality schooling; this will be done by providing scholarships for female teachers and also establishing safe places for girls to learn.
The sisters will donate one dollar for every rebound they collect this season. However, they want everyone – especially young people to get involved, so they are challenging middle and high school basketball teams around the U.S. to join them by signing up donors. Rewards include autographed jerseys, posters and a one on one basketball clinic with the incredible basketball playing sister.
