Yemen and Syria talks "still on schedule", UN says

Jan 07, 2016 The United Nations recently asserted that the mid-January peace talks between Yemen and Syria were still on schedule, despite growing regional tensions on ground.

While addressing reporters, UN spokesman Michele Zaccheo said:

“The Special Envoy for Yemen is travelling to the region tomorrow, and apart from that I can only say that at present the mid-January talks are still on schedule, so…It’s still on the schedule that these would begin on the 14th of January, but there is, the location is to be determined”

Saudi Arabia had earlier cut ties with Iran after Iranian demonstrators stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran in protest over the execution of a senior Shi’ite cleric.
