Four Chelsea fans banned by court for Paris racism

July 30, 2015 Four Chelsea fans have received a five year ban from participating in sporting activities following a racism charge. The incident occurred in February when the Chelsea supporters refused to allow Souleymane Sylla, a black Frenchman, board a train, while chanting “We’re racist and that’s the way we like it”.

The happy-to-be-racist trio, Richard Barklie, Josh Parsons and William Simpson received a five year ban each while Jordan Munday was slammed with a three year ban at Stratford Magistrates Court in east London.

Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Colin Morgan, expressed his distaste towards their action saying:

Our reaction is that this sends a very strong message to those that wish to engage in disorder or racism in relation to football no matter where it occurs. It sends a very clear message that no matter where these offences take place, we will pursue you.”
