A top dealer in child pornography has been locked away for ten years in South Africa
June 4, 2015 Antony Evans, a 53 year old man who authorities described as a “child porn kingpin” has had his day in court and will be taking a much needed break from the rest of the world for 10 years after he agreed to charges of possessing, distributing and manufacturing child pornography. He was sentenced in the Grahamstown High Court.
Evans was arrested earlier this year in a joint operation by the police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units and the FBI after his criminal activities attracted the attention of the authorities in the US. The operation came on the heels of the arrest of seven people, who were using a specific website where he is believed to be the web administrator.
Authorities said about 600 victims aged between 8 and 13, mostly from the United States had been exploited via these websites.
Miranda Friedmann, the Director of Women and Men against Child Abuse does not believe his punishment is enough but is happy that he will go away for a while.
She said “We are happy knowing he will be sitting in jail,”
