NIGERIAN RAPPER SKALES TAKES A BOW FROM EME RECORDS AS HIS CONTRACT EXPIRES WITH THE LABEL.
21 Feb 2014 And finally, we hear Nigerian rapper Skales has dumped EME records label following the end of his contract with the music group.
According to thenet.ng, Skales who had signed with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2010 has decided not to renew his contractual agreement that had bound him to the label for the past 3 years.
He was signed with Wizkid in 2010 in the hopes of being one of the biggest acts in the country – a feat which he might feel hasn’t happened yet.
So did Skales feel a little short changed when in 2011 Wizkid and Banky W became household names in the industry with sold out concerts and numerous hits? Especially with the gradual tilt of his genre from hip hop to Afro pop music.
Seems both parties have equally decided the artist isn’t bringing the bacon back home with this label.
Skales isn’t the only one who’s parted ways with his label in recent times. He joins other celebs such pop singer pop singer Wande Coal who broke away from Mavin Records and Jesse Jagz formerly of Chocolate City.
