South Africans Question the Release of Senzo Meyiwa's Murder Suspect.
13th Nov 2014 South Africans have called the Police to question as regards the sudden arrest and release of Zanokhule Mbatha, the twenty five year old man that was held as a suspect in the death of football star Senzo Meyiwa on October twenty six. Mbatha who turned up for the second time in court had the charges that were brought up against him dropped and was acquitted of any involvement in the act. To this effect a court statement on tuesday read that “From the submissions made by prosecutor Getrude Market the court has accepted that as of now there is not sufficient evidence to put Mr. Mbatha to trial.”
The magistrate Daniel Thulare said “I note the withdrawal of charges by the State against Mbatha and consequently the court orders the release of Mr. Mbatha today”. Thulare added that he understood the “anger and frustration” of a public looking for a conviction, but released the accused man “after careful consideration of the submissions made”.
