She led us across a stream to a settlement on the outskirts of Abuja with ramshackle huts. She was visibly distressed by this.
“I was thinking of taking care of 40 people in a year, but what I met was over 120 people living like people in a community; a community of rubbish, debris and makeshift elastic bags as houses.”
“I think that when we start to show love for others this country will get back to the place where we used to say ‘I pledge to Nigeria my country, to defend her unity’. If we don’t love one another we can’t be united.”
