EbonyLife TV’s movie “FIFTY” set to premiere in London

Sep 8, 2015 The 21st century African women have come of age where they stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their contemporaries the world over.

This resilience and never-giving-up sprit is the theme of the Ebonylife TV movie “Fifty”, which is a riveting exploration of love and lust, power and rivalry, seduction and infidelity.

Set in Lagos, the commercial nerve center of Nigeria, the movie celebrates the pulse and energy of the city while exploring the diversity its residents from the view point of women.

Directed by Biyi Bandele and produced by Tope Oshin Ogun, “Fifty” stars Nollywood divas Ireti Doyle, Dakore Egbuson, Omoni Oboli and Nse Ikpe-Etim.

The movie is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, 17th October 2015, at the Vue 7 Cinema, London.

The Nigerian crowd will however have to wait for the special grand Nigeria premiere on the 13th of December 2015 at The Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, speaking of saving the best for last.

 

A NEW CHAIRPERSON FOR THE AFRICAN UNION

3rd Feb 2014 – The African Union Summit has come to a close and this year, the AU heads of state launched “2014 Year of Agriculture and Food Security, Marking 10th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP).”

It was also time to elect a new Chairperson for the African Union.

ThisDay Live tells us that Ethiopian Prime Minister HailemariamDessalegn handed over the 1 year rotating position to President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania.

The position of first vice president went to Zimbabwe, second vice president was Democratic Republic of Congo, while Nigeria emerged third vice president of AU.

 

GOOD NEWS FOR NIGERIAN POWER WITH NEWS OF A GENERAL ELECTRIC AND TRANSCORP MERGER.

3rd Feb 2014 And good news for the Nigerian power sector as Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) and General Electric Company (GE) have signed a framework agreement to revamp the power and transportation sectors in the country.

The framework agreement, was signed following a closed door meeting with GE’s global chairman, Jeffrey Immelt, and Transcorp Chairman, Tony Elumelu (CON). Under its terms, GE and Transcorp will explore a partnership for the refurbishment and expansion of the Ughelli power plant in Delta State.

TranscorpUghelli Power Plc (TUP) is a subsidiary of Transcorp and recently won the privatisation bid for 100% acquisition of the Ughelli power plant. The agreement also allows for the provision of technical support and equity investment in the power plant. Other areas of collaboration include projects in the transport sector with specific focus in rail transport.

Alright if you didn’t get the play on words, then you’re probably too young to appreciate the coming of band UB40 and RnB singer Brandy who EL Now news gathers are billed to be smashing into Lagos on the 16th of February for a concert.

The event which is being hosted by Classic FM has the nod of approval from Brandy Norwood who has posted a Youtube video saying she can’t wait to come over to Nigeria.

With UB40, Brandy, Kelly Rowland all coming to town, next weekend sure will be a love fest. Care to join?
